The clubhouse at Apple Mountain Golf Club has much to offer your experience as a public golf course. Find good parking and bag drop along with very good carts and cart paths. There is a lot offered in the golf shop for both apparel and equipment, all at average or slightly above average pricing. The menu offered is very good and there is a full bar available for all beverage needs. Combine all that with great service from an attentive staff and you get a friendly atmosphere to relax before or after a round of golf. Yardage books are available.

Hole 1 – Par 4 – Rating 7.66

Begin your round on large, level tee blocks. The fairway is flat and fades slightly right as you go. The rough is short and the bunkers are real sand. The fringe is maintained around the large green. The green is also tiered, and receptive, running at a fast speed.

Large, level tees start the only par 5 on the front 9. A straight-away, flat fairway with short rough also has a water hazard to the right. Real sand bunkers that are maintained abound and the maintained fringe skirts a large, receptive green. The green putts at a fast speed.

Level and large tees begin this short par 4 that is quite unique. Lay up in the flat fairway that rest uphill from the tee, short of the water hazard that guards the front of the green and right of the fairway. The rough is short and the bunkers are real sand. The green is surrounded by a maintained fringe. The green is large, receptive and rolling. It runs at a fast speed.

Tee off from small and level tees over marshy areas to find the rolling fairway with short rough. There are real sand bunkers and a maintained fringe. The green is tiered, rolling and receptive. It is also large and putts fast.

The first par 3 on the front has accommodating, level tees as you tee off over a drop off and water-marsh hazard. The rough is short and the fringe is maintained. Bunkers are real sand. This hole does give you a large green to hit that is receptive. It putts at a fast speed.

The tee shot from the elevated, level but small tees is not as intimidating as it looks. The water hazard in front of the tee should not come into play with a solid shot. There is short-rough and long weedy areas to avoid aside the rolling fairway. Note the real sand bunkers and a maintained fringe. This green is medium in size, a change from the mainly large greens, yet it is still rolling, receptive and fast.

Your second par 3 has large, level tees. Short rough and a large, sprawling real sand waste bunker runs the entire length of the hole. The green is large and fast of speed. It is receptive as well. Avoid the bunkers for a good score.

Water, water everywhere. Tee off over a flowing stream from Large and level tee blocks. The fairway is rolling and slightly uphill with short rough. There is a water hazard right of the fairway and left of the fairway once you reach a certain distance. The water hazard left also curls behind the green. Bunkers are real sand and the fringe is maintained. We have yet another large, fast putting, receptive green, and this one is tiered as well.

Medium size, level tees allow you to tee off over a flowing stream to the rolling fairway edged with short rough. Bunkers are real sand. The large green has a maintained fringe, is receptive and rolling. The green runs at a fast speed.

Start the back 9 on a straight-away par 4 with large, level tees. The fairway is flat with short rough and there is a flowing stream just short of the green to avoid. Bunkers are real sand and the fringe is maintained. The large green is receptive and tiered, running at a fast speed.

The first par 3 on the back has medium sized, level tee blocks. Short rough and real sand bunkers guard the green. The green is large, rolling and fast, but also a bit hard to hold. It is surrounded by a maintained fringe.

This first of 3 par 5’s on the back is one of the longest on the course. The medium sized, level tees start you off toward the flat fairway with short rough on the sides. Bunkers are real sand and the fringe is maintained. The receptive, tiered green is large and putts at a fast speed.

Tee off beside and over a water hazard that should not come into play from large, level tees into a rolling fairway with short rough. Bunkers are real sand and one large bunker divides the fairway down short of the green. The fringe is maintained and is around a large, fast putting green that is receptive and tiered.

This short, tight par 4 has medium size, level tees. The fairway is rolling and has short rough on the sides. Fringe is maintained and the bunkers are real sand. This green is smaller than most on the course and runs at a fast speed. It is receptive and tiered.

The 2nd of 3 par 5’s has large, level tees that point you down the flat fairway that fades slightly left. The short rough is littered with real sand bunkers for most of the way. There is a water hazard left as you approach the green. The large and fast green has a maintained fringe around it and is tiered and receptive.

The last par 3 is straight forward from large, level tees. Carry your tee shot over a marshy stream to the green. There is short rough and real sand bunkers. The receptive, rolling green is large and putts at a fast speed.

Hole 17 is a beautiful par 4 curving slightly around a well-maintained, and very pretty water hazard. Large, level tees start you off. The fairway is flat, curving right with short rough. No real bunkers featured on this hole, but none are needed. A maintained fringe edges the large, fast green that is rolling and receptive.

The final hole is the last of 3 par 5’s. Tees are small but level and situated beside a water hazard, that again should not come into play. The fairway is flat and the rough is short with a few burnt spots. Bunkers are real sand and the fringe is maintained. Another water hazard guards the front and right side of the green. The green is large, fast and very receptive.

SUMMARY:

Apple Mountain Golf Club is all around an enjoyable place to play and hang out. From the clubhouse that meets all needs to the course that is a combination of challenging, beautiful and fun to play. The maintenance is very good, and all aspects meet the discerning golfer’s standards. The course has bent grass greens and Bermuda fairways. There are multiple sets of tees that provide a golfing adventure of golfers of all ages. You get spectacular views along with a challenging layout. Complete with water hazards, elevation changes and generous fairways makes this a great golf experience. This truly championship course plays 6.962 yards from the back tees along with its true greens.

For a public course Apple Mountain has a resort feel but is short of resort pricing. All-in-all, it’s a great place to play for all different skill levels and a good value. See our video of Apple Mountain Golf Course.
