The Quest Golf Club has a very nice clubhouse, adequate parking and self-serve bag drop.  There is quality food available and there is a full bar and on course beverage service.  There is not much to offer in terms of golf equipment but there is a decent apparel selection.  The amenities of a driving range and putting green with short game area for practice are available. Carts and cart paths are solid.  Service is good throughout at this friendly golf facility.

Begin your quest for a good round on hole #1 of The Quest on large, level tee blocks. The fairway is flat in some places and rolling in others. Rough is medium to thick. Small pebbles were noted in all the bunkers. Fringe is maintained. This rolling green is small and fast in speed.

This hole starts with medium-size, level tees that have a water hazard right in front and to the right of the fairway. The rolling fairway is surrounded by medium thick rough. Once again, the bunkers have small round pebbles. Fringe is maintained. This medium size green is tiered and runs at a fast speed.

The flat fairway is dissected by a waste bunker that runs from the right edge all the way across to the left edge and down the left side to the green. Rough is medium in length. Note these bunkers can be grassy. This medium-sized green is surrounded by the bunkers and the maintained fringe. Green is receptive, tiered and medium in speed.

Shoot your shot from level, medium tees to a flat fairway that runs downhill and is sided by medium length rough. Water hazard is on the right side of the fairway. Bunkers have some pebbles. Fringe is maintained with one burnt spot. This rolling green has a few bare spots, is large and medium in speed.

End your quest with the longest par 5 on the course. Tee off from level, medium-sized tees to a fairway that runs uphill. Rough is long and thick. Multiple bunkers have some pebbles throughout. This crowned and difficult to read green is surrounded by a maintained fringe. Green runs at a medium speed and is medium in size.

SUMMARY:

The Quest Golf Club is a quality play at a quality price in the Houghton Lake area and a “not so” hidden treasure.  The championship golf course is mostly in great condition, aside from some needed bunker and water maintenance.  The greens and tree-lined fairways are very consistent and accommodating and provide an enjoyable round of golf for all levels of players.  Playing 6,765 yards of golf from the longest tees can be a great challenge on this course. Service is good throughout the entire course and the clubhouse provides a popular spot to relax before or after the round.  This is a recommended play.
