The clubhouse at The Nightmare Golf Course is a solid clubhouse from most all standpoints. The amenities are good, there is a full bar, and while the menu is limited, the food is good. The apparel selection is above average, and the equipment offered is average. There is a tended bag drop, the parking is very good, the carts are solid, and the cart paths are some of the best we have seen. The Nightmare has outstanding service.

Start the round on large, level tees with this straight-ahead par 4. The fairway is rolling with medium length rough. Bunkers are real sand and the fringe is maintained. The green is receptive and rolling, large in size and fast in speed.

Your first par 3 of the course has large, level sets of tees and can be a bit challenging. There are real sand bunkers and medium length rough. The green is large with a maintained fringe, and therein lies the challenge since you can be far from the pin. The green is receptive and runs at a fast speed.

SUMMARY:

The Nightmare Golf Course is the sister course of The Dream Golf Course, and they are only a short distance apart in West Branch. So, it is well-worth playing both of these public golf courses when in the area. The Nightmare is just a quality play all-around and is very well maintained for enjoyable rounds of golf. Course conditions include a great consistency to the large undulating greens, bent grass fairways, tees, and bunkers which together make this a well manicured course in excellent condition. It plays 7,019 yards from the back tees for long hitters with a variety of elevation changes. There are multiple tee boxes, and the wide fairways give you ample landing areas. You get the up north feel of golf halfway up the state with the natural beauty of the rolling Northern Michigan courses adding to a wonderful golf experience.
