The LYNX Clubhouse

The Lynx Golf course provides good and ample parking along with a bag drop. They have very good customer service throughout, provide good carts with GPS and decent cart paths. They have an excellent clubhouse with available services and amenities such as a driving range and practice green. Selection of equipment and apparel is limited but both have average pricing. They have a full menu with daily restaurant features and a full-service bar with average pricing.

The Lynx Golf Course Front Nine

The Lynx Hole 1

Hole 1 – Par 4 – Rating 8.00

Red: 233 yds
Gold: 277 yds
White: 296 yds
Blue: 316 yds

This hole starts your round with a tough decision, lay up from the tee or drive it on down a drop off to a narrow area. From the level, large tee , you must decide on the lay-up since there are many iron divots filled with sand. Fairway is flat and very downhill at the drop off. Rough is medium length and the hole has real sand bunkers. A well-maintained fringe surrounds a medium sized green that is receptive and rolling. Green runs at a medium speed.

Hole 2 – Par 4 – Rating 7.00

Red: 273 yds
Gold: 339 yds
White: 384 yds
Blue: 404 yds

Small, level tee blocks start you down the second downhill par four. Fairway is flat, has short rough and a bend of the fairway left. Real sand bunkers and a maintained fringe are found on this hole. The medium speed green is receptive, rolling and medium in size.

Hole 3 – Par 3 – Rating 6.00

Gold: 115 yds
White: 151 yds
Blue: 156 yds

Level, medium size tees begin this normal par 3. The rough is short, the bunkers are real sand and the fringe maintained. This medium size green is receptive and rolling, running at a medium speed.

The Lynx Hole 4

Hole 4 – Par 4 – Rating 6.58

Large, level tee boxes point you down the fairway of this uphill par 4. A nice water hazard is to the left as the fairway slightly doglegs left. Note short rough. Real sand bunker skirts along the water as you near the green. Maintained fringe surrounds this medium speed and size, receptive, rolling green.

The Lynx Hole 5

Hole 5 – Par 5 – Rating 8.00

This first par 5 on the front is also the longest par 5 on the front. Large, level tees and a rolling uphill fairway make it longer yet. Short rough and real sand bunkers are featured along with a well-maintained fringe. The green is receptive and rolling and is of medium size and speed.

Hole 6 – Par 3 – Rating 6.34

Small, but level, tees begin this longest of the par 3’s. Not much fairway and short rough are on this hole but bunkers are real sand. Maintained fringe and a small but slightly faster putting green is receptive and rolling.

Large, level tees start this sharp dogleg left. Fairway is flat and has short rough. Real sand bunkers and maintained fringe are found again on this hole. A rolling and receptive medium size green awaits that runs at a medium speed.

The Lynx Hole 8

Hole 8 – Par 5 – Rating 7.66

Tee off from medium size, level tees. This shortest par 5 has a rolling fairway and short rough. Real sand bunkers are featured here. A well-maintained fringe surrounds the medium sized green that is very receptive. Green runs at a slightly faster than medium speed.

Level, medium-sized tees lead to a rolling uphill and downhill fairway with short rough. Bunkers are real sand. A maintained fringe goes with the medium size and speed green. Green is rolling and receptive.

Hole 10 – Par 4 – Rating 7.66

Level, large, elevated tee blocks take you out to start the back 9 from one of the highest elevation levels on the course. The elevated tee box drops sharply off to the fairway which is rolling. Short rough and real sand bunkers as well as a maintained fringe are featured. The medium size and speed green is quite receptive and rolling and sits at the base of the hill.

Hole 11 – Par 4 – Rating 7.66

Tee off from large, level tees. This par 4 doglegs left with a flat fairway and short rough. This hole has real sand bunkers and a maintained fringe at the green. The green is receptive, rolling and medium in size and speed.

The Lynx Hole 12

Hole 12 – Par 3 – Rating 6.00

White: 119 yds
Blue: 132 yds

This shortest par 3 starts with large, level tees and has short rough and real sand bunkers. The green is medium in size and speed but very receptive and rolling. Fringe is well-maintained.

Level, medium tees begin this sweeping dogleg left. Short rough and real sand bunkers guard the green. A maintained fringe surrounds the receptive, rolling green that is medium in size and runs at a medium speed.

The Lynx Hole 14

Hole 14 – Par 3 – Rating 6.34

White: 142 yds
Blue: 172 yds

Level, medium-sized tee blocks start this last par 3. The rough is short and there is a water hazard behind the green. Real sand bunkers and a maintained fringe are consistent with other holes. This medium size, medium speed green is very receptive and has subtle but definite breaks.

The Lynx Hole 15

Hole 15 – Par 5 – Rating 6.28

Blue: 561 yds

Hole 15 is the longest par 5 on the course. Start from medium size, level tees. Note the flat fairway and a water hazard left off the tee, along with short rough. Fairway is flat and fades right slightly. Real sand bunkers and a maintained fringe are found on this hole. Green is receptive and rolling as well as medium size and speed.

The Lynx Hole 16

Hole 16 – Par 4 – Rating 6.00

Red: 225 yds
Gold: 284 yds
White: 339 yds
Blue: 359 yds

Level tees take you to a rolling fairway lined with short rough that runs as a uphill dogleg with some spectacular views. The large real sand bunker guards the right side of green, short of the green. Well-maintained fringe surrounds a medium size and medium-speed green that is also rolling and very receptive.

The Lynx Hole 17

Hole 17 – Par 5 – Rating 7.14

Gold: 440 yds
White: 479 yds
Blue: 536 yds

Level, medium size tees start the last par 5. Fairway is rolling and runs both uphill and downhill. Rough is short and bunkers are real sand. The well-maintained fringe edges this medium sized green. Green is receptive, rolling and medium speed.

The Lynx Hole 18

Hole 18 – Par 4 – Rating 7.66

Gold: 271 yds
White: 328 yds
Blue: 344 yds

This finishing par 4 has level and medium size tees. The rolling fairway is uphill to the green. Short rough and real sand bunkers go along with the maintained fringe. This medium sized, and speed green is receptive and rolling.

SUMMARY:

The Lynx Golf Course provides a challenging round of golf with lots of elevation changes, multiple sets of tees, blind shots, well-positioned bunker, elevated green, narrow fairways and more. Add to that an amazing view, picturesque sunsets, pine trees, and a northern Michigan golf feel. Playing 6,452 yards from the longest tees, give both big hitters and the weekend golf warrior a high caliber golf experience. Coupled with the atmosphere of the club house and quality maintenance, ability for special events and a great golf staff makes the Lynx a quality play and value.
