Inside, the restaurant serves up delicious meals crafted from locally sourced ingredients, providing a satisfying dining experience after rounds of golf.
Whether indulging in a hearty breakfast before teeing off or enjoying a leisurely lunch overlooking the greens, the restaurant offers a delightful culinary journey. Additionally, the pro shop within the clubhouse caters to golfers’ needs, showcasing a curated selection of equipment, apparel, and accessories. With its welcoming ambiance, the clubhouse at Forest Dunes Golf Club enhances the overall experience of this premier golf destination in Michigan. To add value, the property features a par-3 course, The Bootlegger, and an outdoor bar and sitting area, hilltop driving range, a full putting course, an ample parking lot, and well-maintained carts and paths.
The stay and play opportunities are wide and include a variety of packages or the ability for Forest Dunes to create one special for you. They can handle smaller or larger groups, have many on property options like four-bedroom units, or a pair of beautiful two-bedroom suites, as well as standard rooms. For multiple or one-night stays.  We were tempted to stay after playing our round, but found out they book up quickly.

On the first hole and at the first tee, you will find it elevated, level, and medium in size. The fairway is rolling, and doglegs right with shorter rough that is quite thick and dense.  The bunkers have real sand and seem to be everywhere. Including the sand waste areas, all is in great shape. The green is medium sized with a maintained fringe. The green surface is rolling, receptive, and putts at a fast speed.

You need accuracy here off the level, medium size tees to set up your second shot. The rolling fairway is tree-lined with dense, short rough. Bunkers are real sand with multiple rakes available. The fringe is maintained around this fast-rolling, medium size green.  It is receptive and rolling.

Large and level tee blocks give you a good chance to land your tee shot on the green for your first par 3. Tee over a sandy waste area to an approach area that is slightly uphill. Bunkers contain real sand, and the fringe is maintained. Multiple rakes are available for the bunkers. This receptive and rolling green is large, slopes back to front, and runs at a fast pace.

From the level, medium size tee boxes pick a landing area in the rolling fairway that doglegs slightly right. The hole is tree-lined with short, dense rough. Multiple rakes accompany the real sand bunkers, and the fringe is maintained around the large green. The green surface is rolling, receptive and slopes back to front.

Your first par 5 starts on large and level tee blocks. Big hitter or the overly bold may want to hug the left side or “cut the corner” a bit on the slight dogleg left, but too far left is a bad thing. The fairway is rolling with medium length, denser rough. Bunkers have real sand with multiple rakes. There are some waste bunkers to avoid as well. A maintained fringe edges the large, fast-putting green.  It is tiered, rolling and receptive.

Call your shot on the 6th hole from large and level tees. Here we have a split fairway with the safer play on the left side.  The bolder play over a bunker complex is on the right side. The fairway is rolling, the rough is dense and medium length, the bunkers have multiple rakes and real sand. A maintained fringe surrounds the medium size green.  The surface has a receptive and rolling feel and slopes back to front. It putts at a fast speed.

The 2nd par 5 on the front side starts on large and level tees. This rolling fairway is tree-lined with dense, medium length rough, and has a dogleg left. There are waste bunkers and real sand bunkers, which have multiple rakes. The large green has a well-maintained fringe, and it is rolling, receptive, and slopes back to front. It runs at a fast speed.

Start on level, medium size tees for this par 4. The tree-lined, rolling fairway doglegs right with medium length, thick, rough. Multiple rakes are available on all real sand bunkers. As you near the medium size green, there is a water hazard that wraps to the front right corner and around the back. There is a maintained fringe and a large bunker long to help your ball stay dry. The fast-putting surface is receptive, rolling and slopes from back to front.

Enjoy one of the prettiest little finishing holes you will find on a front nine in a pristine setting behind the clubhouse. The tees are medium size and level. Tee over the pond water hazard to the large green guarded by the water, real sand bunkers, and medium length, thick, rough. Edged by a maintained fringe, the fast-paced green is tiered, receptive, rolling and slopes back to front.

The back side starts on level, medium size tees. The fairway is rolling and split, so pick your poison. The fairway does seem like wide open meadows compared to other holes but do not let it fool you. The rough is medium length and thick, and there are plenty of real sand bunkers and waste areas to avoid. The fringe is maintained around this large “V” shaped green, which is tiered, sloped back to front (both sides of the “V”), rolling and receptive. To top it off, it putts as one of the speediest greens.

The first par 3 on the back side is from large and level tees. No fairway to speak of, so hit the large green. There is dense, medium length rough and real sand bunkers with multiple rakes available. The fast-rolling green surface is receptive and rolling, as well as tiered.  This green slopes back to front.

Level, medium size tees start this tight par 4. It is tree-lined with a rolling fairway that doglegs sharply left with dense, medium length rough. Bunkers are real sand with many rakes and there is a water hazard lurking right of the green. With a maintained fringe, this large, elevated green presents a fast-putting, receptive and rolling surface. It slopes from back to front.

From large and level tee blocks, get a good view of the rolling fairway. Avoid the dense rough and long wetlands grass to find the fairway to set up your next shot. There are real sand bunkers and multiple waste bunkers. The receptive and rolling green is skirted by a maintained fringe. It is large, tiered, slopes back to front and putts at a fast pace.

This par 4 has a daunting view from its large and level tee boxes. Ahead is a rolling fairway but you must carry over waste bunker areas to reach it. The rough is medium length and dense. Bunkers contain real sand. Beware the water hazard left of the fairway and green as you near the large green. It has a maintained fringe and is rolling, receptive, and quite fast of speed.

Hole 15 brings your first par 5 on the back side and it starts with medium size, level tee blocks. Tee over waste areas and grasslands to reach the rolling fairway with medium length, denser rough. All bunkers have real sand with multiple rakes and the fringe is maintained. This medium size, receptive and rolling green slopes back to front and runs at a fast speed.

Your final par 3 has large, level tees.  It’s over all waste area to reach the large green guarded by dense rough and real sand bunkers. There is a maintained fringe surrounding the fast-rolling putting surface.  The green slopes back to front with a rolling and receptive feel.

The penultimate hole may be one of the most visually challenging views on the course from level, medium size tees. You must find a spot on the rolling fairway avoiding waste areas, real sand bunkers and medium length, dense rough. The fringe is maintained around the medium size green.  It has a fast speed, rolling and receptive surface, and slopes back to front.

Finish on a par 5 as you tee off over waste area from large and level tee boxes. Fairway is rolling and runs slightly downhill. The rough is dense, the bunkers real sand with multiple rakes, and there is a water hazard down much of the left side and around the back of the green. The fringe is maintained and the large green itself has a rolling and receptive surface.  It putts at a fast pace.

NOTE: There is a bonus 19th hole, a short par 3 over water which is in great shape but not part of the 18-hole review.
