Hickory Hills Golf Club Clubhouse

Clubhouse and Amenities – Rating 4.26

The clubhouse at Hickory Hills is adequate but does need a little care. There are the normal hot dogs, chips, and candy available for food, and there is a good full bar. Parking is a bit below average as are the carts and cart paths. There is no bag drop. There is not much for equipment or apparel offered. The service however is very friendly and makes up for what it lacks.

SUMMARY:

The Maize and Blue Course at Hickory Hills Golf Club, named after the colors of Michigan, is quite the conundrum. On one hand the layout and design is challenging, engaging and quite good. On the other hand, the maintenance on the course often leaves much to be desired. The bunkers are in need of the most attention. The greens and fairways are fairly consistent in solid, if unspectacular shape. Fringes need work.

What makes this 18-hole golf course worth a play is the engaging layout and the affordable pricing. It does have multiple sets of tees, and from the longest tees plays at 6,715 yards. From the women’s tee (or forward tee if you prefer) it plays a respectable 5,445 yards. Overall, this thirty-six hole facility (with its sister 18 named the Green & White) has some favorite features as part of the layout. If this course could upgrade the maintenance and bring this course back it could be a destination style course. See our video of Hickory Hills – Maize and Blue Course.
